Sky Arts Week with Sam Jones

This year we completed a whole school art project as part of Sky Arts Week.  Local artist, Sam Jones, worked with each class to produce a unique piece of art with varied mediums linked to the theme of 'Identity'.

King's Coronation Mural with local artist Sam Jones

To celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, all children worked with local artist Sam Jones to create a beautiful mural in our small playground area.

SISK Project

All the children in school have completed work linked closely to a project that is being completed by the contractors John Sisk & Son in the local community.  The design and build contract, gained through the YORCivil framework, includes the construction of a new road bridge and footbridge over the East Coast Main Line, 2km of single carriageway road including separated cycle and pedestrian provisions, a rail spur to the National Railway Museum, and earthworks and utility works site wide.

The children were tasked to produce a piece of artwork linked to:

  • what York could look like in the future in their eyes
  • their local community
  • local York landmarks

A variety of work was produced and SISK will be displaying the work in their meeting rooms and on large boards to be fixed to their fencing around the site works.
